The Eagles just strengthened their Super Bowl odds by making a trade with the Chicago Bears for Robert Quinn. Furthermore, the Bears received a fourth-round draft out of this trade. However, it could be for a short period of time. The Eagles and Quinn agreed to cut off two years of his contract, which would make him a free agent after this year. University of North Carolina
Quinn Began his football career at the University of North Carolina in 2008. During his first year as a freshmen, He would rack up 34 total tackles and 6.5 tackles for a loss. Furthermore, he 2 had sacks that year. Quinn only got better during his sophomore year. He virtually doubled his tackle total to 52 total tackles and 11 sacks. The sack total was number two in the ACC in 2009. Furthermore, he ranked number one in the ACC with 19 tackles for a loss. Unfortunately, Quinn would not play his junior year because of a benign brain tumor. However, this did not stop him from going to the NFL. In 2011, the St. Louis Rams would take him in the first round of the NFL Draft.
His NFL Career
Quinn would spend seven years on the Rams from 2011 to 2017. Quinn was solid throughout his time with the Rams. However, his best years would come in 2013 and 2014 when he would have his first two pro bowl seasons. In 2013, he racked up a monster total of 19 sacks. He also led the league in tackles for a loss in 2013 with 23. Once the season was complete he would end up earning the NFL PFWA Defensive Player Of the Year award.Â
During the next season, Quinn would have another brilliant year as he would accumulate 10.5 sacks and 46 tackles. He would also end up leading the league in forced fumbles with five. Quinn would then spend some time in Miami and Dallas before ending up on the Chicago Bears in 2020. In 2021, He would have his third Pro Bowl season. He had 49 total tackles and 18.5 sacks. He would also have 17 tackles for a loss.
What he can do for the Eagles
Quinn will make the Eagles’ defense even better. He will make the Eagles more productive in sacks, as he is one of the best in the league at pass rushing. He also has great pass rushers around him such as Fletcher Cox and Hassan Reddick who leads the Eagles in sacks right now. This has turned out to be a special season for the Eagles. They are undefeated and one of the best teams in the league. They are also still making moves in getting good players such as Quinn.
