Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has been suspended for one game. The suspension comes after a mid-game fight that saw Evans come off of the sideline and throw himself into Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Lattimore was exchanging verbal jabs with quarterback Tom Brady when Evans escalated the fight by running into him. Both players were ejected from the game, and Evans’ behavior garnered a flag for unnecessary roughness. He had been previously been suspended one game for a fight with the same player back in 2017.
The four-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion was reaping the rewards of Chris Godwin’s injury-plagued season. In Week 1, Evans had 71 yards and one touchdown. Before being ejected, he had 61 yards in Week 2.
