Seven weeks of the college football season has certainly brought a lot of excitement. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 8.
Nick Bosa’s college career is over
Nick Bosa has decided to end his college football career to rehab from his core muscle injury and prepare for the 2019 draft. Ohio State had been without Bosa since he suffered an injury in week 3 against TCU. The absence of Bosa will hurt a defense that has been susceptible to big plays.

Bowling Green has fired head coach Mike Jinks
Bowling Green has decided to fire head coach Mike Jinks after a 1-6 start to the year. Their only win was over FCS-level Eastern Kentucky. Jinks is 7-24 in his two-plus seasons in charge. Carl Pelini will take over as interim coach for the remainder of the season.

Key injuries pile up
- Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger has a first-grade shoulder sprain and will rest this week while Texas is on bye.
- USC outside linebacker Porter Gustin is out for the season with a broken ankle.
- Tennessee defensive end Jonathan Kongbo is out for the season with a torn ACL.
- Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is out for the season with a neck injury.
- Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell will miss six weeks with an injured ankle.
- Appalachian State’s Jalin Moore out 8-12 weeks with a dislocated right ankle.
Alabama DL Raekwon Davis will miss time for punching Missouri player
Nick Saban has said that defensive lineman Raekwon Davis will miss time after getting caught punching a Missouri player.
