The GLL Grand Slam has come and gone as a new champion has been crowned. The Grand Slam was stuffed full of 18 action packed matches as teams from different nations battled it out to show that they are the best from their region. Tensions were high and teams performed on new levels as they pushed for the big Chicken Dinner. 16 teams went in, and only one emerged as the grand champion. Who is the lucky team that took the GLL Grand Slam home?
Day One
Day one kicked off with a massive win for Natus Vincere. They blew away the competition with 14 kills as they made their mark early in the game. They took the win by taking down Tempo Storm, who were coming in hot to attempt to swipe the win for themselves. Team Liquid followed them up with a nine-kill win. Liquid put up a strong fight, wiping out Red Canids as the ring was closing in.
Match three saw a big win for The Rumblers, who have been fighting to make an impact early on. They came away with only five kills, but they claimed valuable points in the long run. Their win was followed by another North American side, SpaceStation, who picked up 13 kills as they ran through the competition. The rest of day one saw wins for The Rumblers again, and Ghost Gaming. The NPL teams picked up some great wins at the end as they looked forward to the battles of Day 2.
Day Two
Day two kicked into high gear with a win for G2, who have been looking to jump up the leaderboard. They put eight kills on the board as they took down Atletico on the hills of Erangel. In the next match of the day, FaZe Clan found their first win after several matches of consistent play. They claimed 10 kills as they set their eyes on the prize, then immediately came back strong and followed up with another 10-kill win to fire themselves closer to the top of the table. The margins were razor thin as the Grand Slam rolled on. G2, Atletico, and Natus Vincere closed out the day with Chicken Dinners as well. Heading into the final day, who will run away with it all?
Day Three
With six matches remaining, it was anyone’s game. Bitloft came up with a big 10-kill Chicken Dinner in the first match of the final day. They finally took the win they were looking for all day. Bitloft’s win was followed up by wins for Natus Vincere, Athletico, Natus Vincere again, and then a first win for Cloud9 who had been jumping up in matches. Finally, they pulled together and earned a Chicken Dinner. Teams had been battling it out hard on this final day, but it all came down to who could claim the points in the final match.
The final match went to FaZe, who claimed their second win with 11 kills. This was only be their second win of the day. Aside from that, all of their points from all other aspects of the game were enough to fire them into first place, making them the grand champions. FaZe finished off Team Liquid with ease, and showed the composure that they own so well.
Congratulations to FaZe Clan for winning the GLL Grand Slam. Natus Vincere, Athletico, and Team Liquid followed them in second, third, and fourth. Tune in for more coverage of PUBG here at The Game Haus.
