With the National PUBG League back in action, the Contenders are fighting hard to prove who deserves to join them. The race is tight as week two of their Phase 3 competition has come to an end, and this time around, it seems to be anyone’s game. Some familiar faces are fighting hard to get back to former glory, while new faces are trying to topple them and take over. With Phase 3 at its halfway point, what Contenders teams are coming out on top?
Match One
Week two of the contenders started off with a big win for Obey. They came out of the match with a huge 14 kills. The Comets tried to topple Obey, but their efforts landed them in second place with only three kills. Elevate, Almost, and SDR struggled right off the bat with no kills at all in the opening match.
Match Two
The second match of the day was claimed by Smokin’ Aces Red. The matched the 14 kills from Obey in the first round, tearing through their opponents and earning them some major points going forwards. Halocline was looking for the win in this match with five kills to their name, but Smokin’ Aces Red were too much for them to handle in the end. San Diego Rarity also got on the board and earned some much-needed points as they try to avoid falling even farther down the table.
Match Three
Smokin’ Aces Red then came back and did the double in match three. They again took 14 kills in what seemed to be an exact replica of their last match. This time around, The God Squad were their final opposition, but they too were not able to overcome Smokin’ Aces Red’s powerful run. FlipSid3 Tactics made it on the board this time with a five-kill third-place finish. Will anyone be able to stop Smokin’ Aces Red and their next-level form?
Match Four
Match four went to 303 Esports who finally added another win under their belt. They capitalized on their form and tactics from week one and claimed a 10-kill Chicken Dinner. They finished off The Happy Campers who were fighting hard for a win. THC finished in second with three kills, followed by Elevate with 9 kills.
Match Five
Elus1ve finally earned a Chicken Dinner after two not so convincing performance. They took match five with 14 kills. They pulled it together and came out on top after not breaking 10 kills all day. These points were important going into the final match of the day. Oxymoron finished behind them with five kills, adding more momentum to their strong performances from the day.
Match Six
In the final match, The Happy Campers finally found the win they had been looking for all day. Their seven kills gave them the edge over Noble, who finally found their place on the board. Even with Noble’s solid performance in this match, they were not able to overcome the rocky parts of the day and still sit lower than they would like. Oxymoron finished off with a third-place finish, earning them more important points for their cause.
At the end of the day, Smokin’ Aces Red sit on the top of the contenders with 95 points. Halocline sit right below them with 92 points and they are hopeful that another solid week will give them the edge to jump to first. THC isn’t far behind in third, with 89 points. The Contenders are tight this time around, who will come out on top?
