Sentiments and DLC
Given that this is the full list, it is not a very well-rounded or full roster. There is, quite frankly, no excuse for only some of a starter trio to get into a game and others not to. This is the second time that Charizard is programmed into a game’s code, with Squirtle and Bulbasaur being neglected.
If one member of a starter trio is not in the game, why aren’t the others? It doesn’t help that Squirtle and Bulbasaur were added back into Sword and Shield behind a paywall. Granted, while the mons themselves were a free update, the area where you got them was not. Not everyone wants to go through the effort of transferring all of their Pokémon just to have them.
Players want to explore AND get their Pokémon for free. They already paid for the game. This same feedback also goes for Regieleki and Regidrago. Why aren’t the other Regi golems available for transfer? There is zero point behind that other than–that’s right–money.
Understandably, DLC is coming out. Readers should not take the sentiments in this article to mean that these other Pokémon aren’t coming. It just sucks that instead of treating this a certain way to immerse more people into the lore of Pokémon, it’s being used as a cash grab.
Yes, the Pokémon are free without DLC purchase, but then players should not have to wait until the DLC release date to get them. It is very scummy, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Conclusion
For better or worse, these are all the Pokémon players can transfer to Scarlet and Violet. The best thing about this update is that players no longer have to slog through glitchy, broken tera raid events to get their favorite Pokémon. It is a lot easier to transfer a mon and hyper and EV train it than playing a fundamentally broken game mode.
Players should enjoy themselves. Despite these flaws, Pokémon is still the incredibly creative, passionate, and fun series that has shepherded entire generations. The devs make their mistakes, but the passion of a community is worth something in the end.
