The NYXL have officially announced that they will not be moving forward in contract negotiations with their off-tank player, Tae-hong “MekO” Kim. The Korean off-tank was a key part of the NYXL’s success in the first two seasons and is now officially one of the league’s most sought after free agents.
Today our contract with Tae-hong “MekO” Kim has come to an end. We thank @MekOppa for two outstanding seasons and for everything he’s done for NYXL.
You’ll always be part of the family and we wish you the absolute best in your career.#EverUpward pic.twitter.com/i5s43hFA3G

This move likely comes, not from the NYXL’s desire to cut MekO, but from their inability to pay him the sort of salary he was asking for. It will be interesting to see which teams have the kind of money to pay him, or if he will be forced to take less than he may have desired. This is purely speculation but will be a situation to closely monitor in any case.
As a reminder, all of the current offseason changes will be continuously updated in TGH’s Complete List of Overwatch League Offseason Moves.
