Every year April Fools Day rolls around and many gaming companies get in on it. They will make entire release trailers for games that will never come or character reveals for characters that will never see the light of day. The Overwatch Devs do something different. They bring out goggly eyes and put them on basically everything. While some may be tired of this bit, others love it. Either way Overwatch April Fools 2022 did not disappoint.

Overwatch will soon become Overwatch 2 and with so many changes coming, the Googly Eyes brought some consistency in era full of questions for the beloved franchise. The new Overwatch Anniversary Remix event specifically sees the game heading to what many believe is likely the end of many of Overwatch’s traditions. The Archives Event and Summer Games Event were combined into the Anniversary Event, of which there will be three. These had been put out every year like clockwork but now things are changing.
While fans welcome change after stagnation and nothing being added to the game for nearly two-years, there are still many questions about Overwatch’s future. What will Overwatch 2 really bring? Will this Overwatch 2 Beta be enough to save the game and its franchised league the Overwatch League? Will the Dev continue to roll out content in a serious way?
All of these questions and many more are needing to be answered. That being said, the ability to see these Googly Eyes while waiting impatiently for the OW2 Beta to come about brings some laughs and a sense of peace. Enjoy them while you can and remember to check back and see if they will be there on April 1, 2023.
