The Best Social Experience Award. Given to teams, brands or leagues that used the technology they had at hand to provide the best fan experience possible.
The Houston Outlaws were on top of their game when it came to it. They created four world first esports events like the Texas signing tour, a high fashion pop-up shop and the largest esports watch party. Above all, two of their players, Jake “JAKE” Lyon and Shawn “RAWKUS” Flaherty, were even featured on the Today Show to promote the League.
The Outlaws were strong on every front. Posting daily on their main platform, Twitter, and interacting with an endless number of fans, the high-quality vlog series FOCUS on YouTube. This series consisted of 25 videos, of around 20 minutes each. Giving us a sneak peak of what life was like inside of the practices and activities of the team.
All of this was designed in order to make the Outlaws Experience feel like you were part of the team and the family. As a result, this made them the perfect candidate for the award.
What are the Tempest Awards?
Held this year at Luxor’s Esports Arena Las Vegas, they are North America’s biggest titles for everything esports related. Whole leagues, individual players and streamers strive for these; as a result, they can really give you that much wanted visibility in the business.
Not Only Houston Shined that Night
As the awards moved on, we went throughout various categories, including Venue of the Year and Best Brand Activation. Many were declared winners, and Overwatch League was one of them. The organization was announced as a winner of not one, but two titles. These were: New Esports Competition – Season/Series and Best TV Broadcast.
For all his hard work throughout the season, the hundreds of desk discussions and Watchpoints and for always being a voice for esports, on and off-screen, Ambassador Award for Personality of the Year was given to Chris Puckett. Alongside him, Nate Nanzer, Overwatch League’s commissioner, won the award for Executive of the year.
Therefore, from behalf of The Game Haus’ Overwatch team, we’d like to congratulate all winners and wish them the best in the Seasons to come!
