The Montreal Canadians are one team that many probably never expected would make it to the playoffs. Well, they made it. What’s more is that the Canadians are in Round 3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and they don’t seem like they will back down anytime soon.
Recap of the Canadians’ Playoff Success So Far
It all began back on May 20 when the Canadians had to face off against a strong, powerful Toronto Maple Leafs team. But the team held on to knock off their Canadian rivals, eliminating the Leafs after a 4-3 series sweep.
Yes, this game had to be decided at Game 7, but that’s beyond the point. The Canadians were able to head to the next round where things would only get tougher from there.
Round 2 didn’t really seem tough for the Canadians, though, after they swept the Winnipeg Jets and took a 4-0 series win.
Now, with only four teams left in the playoffs, the Canadians are in Round 3, facing off against the Vegas Golden Knights.
This series, however, appears to be slightly different than the previous two. That’s because the Canadians seem a little less dominant than they did before. In Game 1, the Golden Knights shocked the Canadians with a 4-1 win.
The Canadians are looking to bounce back and give the Golden Knights a taste of their own medicine. In addition, they are looking to take this series and move a little more closer to hoisting up Lord Stanley very soon.
Do the Canadians Have What It Takes?
The Golden Knights are heavily favored to eliminate the Canadians. Could that all change? Certainly. Now that both teams are officially in the semifinal stage of the playoffs, time is crucial and every game is even more crucial than before.
So, obviously, there’s a lot at stake. But this statement strongly applies to the Canadians, who many are expecting to fall short of winning this series.
Now, the good news is that the Habs are quite strong in regards to their forward group. They each are strong and physical, so that helps on offense. This team have a line of good players who can ensure that the Golden Knights won’t be thinking they’ll be playing an easy game.
Consequently, the Habs are playing against a team with just as much physical strength, if not more, in their game. This makes this particular series all the more interesting.
The Habs haven’t been playing bad this season and they have been known to take fans and teams by surprise. All the Habs need to do is bring stronger offense and defense to their games and they may have the opportunity to shock many fans and head on to the Finals.
This series will be a big challenge for the Habs to take on, but if they can push through, that would certainly be a big deal for the team.
Winning the Stanley Cup Trophy would definitely mean so much to the Habs. The last time this team won a Stanley Cup Trophy was all the way back in 1993. If the Habs can win the trophy, this would make it the first time in 30-years that they’ve won it.
