The Steelers are trading for cornerback William Jackson shortly after they traded away wide receiver Chase Claypool. The exact trade compensation that the Washington Commanders are receiving is not known, but they he is expected to go for a late-round pick.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Jackson was originally a late first round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals back in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played there for five seasons before signing a three-year, $40.5 million contract with the Commanders in 2021.
He has played in just four games so far in 2022, recording 16 combined tackles, zero interceptions, zero sacks and just two pass deflections. There have been reports of a back injury to Jackson, but Commanders coach Ron Rivera alluded to a benching back in Week 5.
