Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs is out for a few weeks with an ankle injury. Wirfs has suffered a high-ankle sprain, an injury which has been very prevalent during this season. This particular injury usually has a 3-4 week recovery time.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
This is a big loss for the Buccaneers, whose offensive line was decimated in the preseason with injuries and departures. The former 13th overall pick is in his third NFL season protecting Tom Brady. He’s been available for every single NFL game so far in his career, up until now.
Wirfs has played every single offensive snap in the 44 games in which he’s been available. He’s also only racked up a total of nine penalties during his career. He was lucky enough to win a Super Bowl during his rookie season, and has made one Pro Bowl and one First Team All-Pro.
