The Houston Texans will sign free-agent defensive back Jimmie Ward according to Ian Rapoport.
Ward, 31, played for DeMeco Ryans when he was the defensive coordinator in San Francisco. In nine seasons with the 49ers, Ward has 451 total tackles, seven interceptions and 44 passes defended.
Houston has made an effort to improve their defense in free agency with the signings of Hassan Ridgeway, Chase Winovich and now Ward.
