Tight end Tyler Kroft has signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. During his seven-year career, he has played exclusively in the AFC, with the Bengals, Bills and Jets. Kroft is coming off of a chest injury that shortened his 2021 season.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.

In the nine games he played in 2021, Kroft started six. He ended the season with 173 yards on 16 receptions, catching just one touchdown. His most productive season came in his third year in the league, with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kroft started all 16 games with the Bengals in 2017, catching 42 balls for 404 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. Since that 2017 season, he has not started more than six games, or played in more than 11 games. He will now be a hybrid blocking-receiving tight end in the 49ers run-heavy offense.
