Free agent quarterback Sam Darnold and the San Francisco 49ers have agreed on a one-year deal according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Darnold is the former no. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the Jets and Panthers in his career. The USC product has passed for 11,767 yards, 61 touchdowns and 55 interceptions on 59.7 percent completion in his NFL career.
The 49ers have Trey Lance and Brock Purdy on the roster, but will get some depth with Darnold. Last season both Lance and Purdy, along with Jimmy Garroppolo were hurt for the 49ers at the quarterback position.
