The Eagles played a rare Tuesday night game at Lincoln financial field this week. This was due to COVID 19 concerns within the Washington Football Team. They had 26 starters and reserves land on the COVID 19 list within two weeks.
Philadelphia started off slow in this game and quickly found their groove in the second quarter and throughout the rest of the game. The Eagles did it using their rushing attack that they have found success with earlier in the year.
Rushing attack
Miles Sanders had an impressive day on the ground. He was fast and found holes in that Washington defensive line throughout the game. He had 18 carries and rushed for 131 yards. Sanders also had 15 yards through the air. This was his second game in row where he has rushed over 100 yards. Sanders was not the only player who had a good day on the ground.
Jordan Howard was also productive and gave the Eagles some good yardage as a backup. He had 15 carries for 69 Yards. As for the Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, he also found some ways to get some good rushes off quarterback keepers and scrambles. He had 38 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Overall, the Eagles the 238 rushing yards as a team. The Eagles ground game will be the reason the Eagles get a wild card berth if they can manage to keep it going.
Jalen Hurts’ performance
Hurts had a decent night overall. He managed to connect with a couple deep passes. One was a 45-yard bomb to Dallas Goedert that Hurts put right on target. He was pretty accurate the whole game. Hurts was 20 of 26 passing the ball and threw for 296 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.

Yes, he did make his mistakes throughout the game. He got sacked in the first quarter and ended up fumbling in the redone. Washington did end up recovering and getting the football near midfield. The Interception that Hurts threw was just a stroke of bad luck. His pass hit Dallas Goedert in the hands and ricocheted off his heel into the hand of Landon Collins. Hurts overcame adversity at the beginning of the game and really bounced back after that, which is a sign of tough quarterback.
The Eagles’ defense
The Eagles defense play well throughout the game. They held the Washington Football team to just 237 yards of offense. Philadelphia also bottled-up Antonio Gibson for most of the game. He is one of the leagues better running backs. He had a leaping touchdown at the goal line but that about it. Gibson had 15 carries for only 26 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles defense also managed to sack Garrett Gilbert twice in this game. Fletcher Cox had 1.5 sacks as he got help from Jevon Hargrave on one of them. The leading tackler for the Eagles in this game was Alex Singleton, which is not surprising. He had 8 total tackles in this game as he was all over the field. Philadelphia should have honestly won by more, but a couple of key mistakes kept this game close. Other than that, the Eagles got enough done to get the victory and notch there seventh win of the season, as they are 7-7 overall. This keeps them right in the thick of things for an NFC Wild Card berth. Their next game will be against the New York Giants at home.
