The Eagles are coming off their best game of the season, as they blew out the Lions in Detroit last weekend. The Birds are now 3-5 on the season. Philadelphia will have much tougher test at home this weekend, as they will face the Los Angeles Chargers at home. The Chargers are playoff contenders this year, as Justin Herbert has had a nice season so far. He has 1,994 yards on the season and has thrown 16 touchdowns. Â The only part of his game that could be improved upon is turnovers, as he has six interceptions on the year. LA is coming into this game with a 4-3 record, and they will be looking to improve upon that this weekend. The Eagles will have to be on top their game if they want to come away this weekend with a win. This article will provide a preview for the Philadelphia Eagles game for Week 9.
Jalen Hurts is a key to victory this weekend
If the Eagles are going to beat a good team, then it will have to start with their quarterback. Hurts did not throw as much against the Lions as he did in past game. The Eagles were able to rely more on the ground game. For the Eagles to produce points this weekend, Hurt’s his going to have make some big plays through the air, as the Chargers defense is a lot better.  He has the weapons to do this as he has Devonta Smith and Quez Watkins at his disposal. Jalen Reagor is out as he is dealing with a injury he suffered against the Lions last weekend.
However, Hurts will have to make good decisions with ball and avoid interceptions. The Eagles quarterback also has the mobility aspect of his game. He has been great at avoiding pleasure with his quickness. Hurts has also really produced as a rushing quarterback. He is the Eagles leading rusher with 432 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns.
The Defensive line will need to bring pressure to Herbert
The Eagles defensive line has been good all year at producing sacks and bring pressure to quarterbacks. Unfortunately, the Eagles will be missing some key defensive linemen. Javon Hargrave is out with a shoulder injury and Fletcher Cox is out with a knee injury.  Josh Sweat needs to step up this weekend with these two key players out. He is coming off a great game last weekend, as he produced two sacks in the Eagles victory. Sweat needs to ride the momentum of last weekend and have another big game. Another guy that could make an impact is Milton Williams. He got his first sack of the season last weekend. William has also produced 14 tackles this season. This depleted defensive line will also be the first line of defense in stopping the run. Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is a solid running back that the Eagles need to  defend. He has 420 yards on the season and five rushing touchdowns.
Boston Scott will need another big game
Scott was a huge factor in the Eagles win against the Lions this past Sunday. He will need another big game this weekend against the Chargers. The Eagle’s running back was good at finding holes within the defensive line and has great open field speed. It will however be interesting to see how he does against a better defense, as he has not seen a whole lot of playing time this season. He  only has 19 rushing attempts on the season for 84 yards and three touchdowns.
Overall the Eagles will have to play a great game this coming weekend. If they find a way to move the chains and produce points on offense then they should be in a great position to win. This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles game preview.
