The Seattle Seahawks have released a statement that Pete Carroll is out as head coach and will transition to a role in the front office.
Carroll has been the head coach in Seattle for 14 seasons. With the franchise, he posted a 137-89-1 record and won Super Bowl XLVIII.
He also spent time with the Patriots and Jets, which puts his career record at 170-120-1. Carroll led the USC Trojans and won two National Championships there.
The Seahawks will start a coaching search after losing the winningest head coach in history.
