The Carolina Panthers are continuing their new direction by signing XFL standout quarterback P.J. Walker. Expecting to lose Cam Newton after letting him pursue a trade, clearly the Panthers are not satisfied with quarterbacks Kyle Allen or Will Grier.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Walker signing via Twitter on Monday morning.

New Panthers head coach Matt Rhule coached P.J. Walker while they were both at Temple. The reunion makes total sense considering Carolina is currently in flux, the coach-quarterback relationship and Walker’s big numbers as a member of the Houston Roughnecks.
He leads the XFL in yards and touchdown passes with 1.338 and 15 respectively. The Roughnecks are the only undefeated team in the league, at 5-0.
The Panthers have also signed outside linebacker Tahir Whitehead. The former-Raider had no interceptions or forced fumbles last year, but did collect 108 tackles. He will be going into his ninth year in the NFL to give some veteran presence to the defense.
