EA Sports’ Madden franchise has the daunting task of ranking all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with the initial rankings of players. So, The Game Haus will be analyzing the most questionable ratings for players on every NFL team.
Here are the most questionable Madden 21 ratings for the Seattle Seahawks.
D.K. Metcalf – 79
Given that he is fresh into the NFL scene, D.K. Metcalf certainly is not up there yet with the other elite wide receivers. However, his rookie campaign was better than what a lot of people gave him credit for.
In the 2019-20 season, Metcalf recorded 900 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. His numbers nearly match up to WR Tyler Lockett’s, proving that he can be a reliable second option. He also has shown Rusell Wilson and the rest of his team his ability to step up through difficult times, like catching a 53-yard touchdown pass to help the Seahawks beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card playoff round. Metcalf used his rookie season to prove that he can be another offensive weapon for Wilson, which is a good case for him to be ranked a little higher in the Madden rankings.
Adjusted Rating – 84
Bobby Wagner – 98
At 30 years old, Bobby Wagner has been a solid linebacker and a leader for the Seahawks defense. He leads the team in sacks (159) and recorded 3 sacks and 1 interception in the 2019-20 season.
While Wagner has the solid numbers for a linebacker, his rating doesn’t add up however when looking at Seattle’s overall defense. Seattle ranked 27th in passing defense and 22nd in rushing defense. In some of the team’s losses, like the Divisional Playoffs matchup against Green Bay, Wagner only had 5 total tackles. And while he does lead the team in tackles, other players like K.J. Wright and Shaquill Griffin lead the team in passes defended as well as interceptions. So even though Wagner is a valuable player and linebacker, his rating is too high when you look deep into his numbers and the fact that Seattle was not even within the top 10 in defense rankings.
Adjusted Rating – 92
Russell Wilson – 97
If there’s any other quarterback that worthy enough to be a part of the 99 Club with Patrick Mahomes, it’s Russell Wilson.
Wilson ranked 6th in passing yards (4,110) and 5th in total QBR (69.8). He also ranked 3rd in total touchdowns (31). But what separates him from the pack is that he led the league in game-winning drives (5) and comebacks (4). In the games where there was a comeback/game-winning drive, Wilson averaged 3 touchdowns per game, a 70 percent completion rating, and only 1 interception which further explains his 96 deep ball rating, the highest among quarterbacks in Madden 21.
Wilson might not be a reigning champion or had the most touchdowns and passing yards. But what makes Russell worthy of a ticket to the 99 Club is how accurate and successful he is in clutch moments.
Adjusted Rating – 99
