Chicago Bears first round draft choice Justin Fields signed his rookie contract on Thursday, per Tom Pelisoro of NFL Network. His contract is worth $18,871,952 over four years, including a $11,085,056 signing bonus. All of the money is fully guaranteed.
The Bears are wasting no time in locking up Justin Fields. After trading up to the 11th overall pick to draft him, they are fully committed to the rookie quarterback.
Despite the high draft choice and the expensive contract, head coach Matt Nagy is insistent on starting Andy Dalton Week 1. However, it should not be too long before Fields takes over, as he is reportedly excelling in training camp. Chicago is hoping that once he does get the starting job, Fields lives up to his rookie deal and then some.
