Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David has suffered a low ankle sprain. He picked up the injury in Sunday’s Week 5 blowout of the Miami Dolphins. David has already been ruled out for Thursday Night Football against the Eagles in Week 6.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday morning.
#Bucs LB Lavonte David suffered a low-ankle sprain in Sunday’s win and is expected to miss some time, source said. That means he’s out Thursday and week-to-week after that.

David has been a Tampa Bay Buccaneer since he was drafted in 2012. He has earned one Pro Bowl berth, one All-Pro selection and won a Super Bowl in his tenure there. In his 142 games, he has racked up 12 interceptions and 25 total sacks.
The area in which David really excels is tackles. He only has one season in which he has totaled fewer than 100 tackles. In 2015, he had a massive 147 combined tackles in 16 games.
Tampa Bay is already extremely depleted on the back end of their defense. Now, they must deal with the “quarterback” of their defense as Lavonte David is week-to-week.
