Head coach of the Chicago Bears, Matt Nagy, has tested positive for COVID-19. He will now enter the NFL’s quarantine protocols. He will likely not be able to coach the Bears against the San Francisco 49ers on Halloween.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
#Bears coach Matt Nagy announces that he has tested positive for COVID-19. There are 4 players now on the COVID list, and Nagy will be quarantined as they are.

The Bears have four players also on the COVID list, including veteran tight end Jimmy Graham and linebacker Robert Quinn. Now, their head coach joins them in quarantine.
Nagy is one of the head coaches on the proverbial hot seat, as the Bears have been a bit of a disappointment in 2021. First, Nagy refused to start rookie quarterback Justin Fields over Andy Dalton, which angered and confused fans and media. Then, when Dalton was injured, the offense, which he is in charge of, consistently failed to get going with Fields.
If the Bears win their next matchup against San Francisco without Nagy, that will likely only make his seat hotter.
