The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Max Mitchell 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Max Mitchell Background
Position:Â Offensive Tackle
Size:Â 6-foot-6, 307 pounds
Class:Â Senior
2021 stats:Â All-Sun Belt First Team
Mitchell received plenty of experience at Louisiana on the offensive line. He is now headed to the 2022 NFL Draft.
As a two-star prospect out of high school, Mitchell stayed in-state to play for Louisiana. He played sparingly as a freshman, but stepped into the starting lineup as a sophomore. The Ragin’ Cajuns went 11-3 in Mitchell’s first season as a starter. He played both tackle positions in 2020 as the team went 10-1. Mitchell was an All-Sun Belt First Team player in 2021and helped Louisiana go 13-1 with a win in the New Orleans Bowl.
Following a great college career, Mitchell is headed to the next level. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Max Mitchell Strengths
At 6-foot-6 and 307 pounds, Mitchell has solid size for an NFL offensive tackle. He also has decent 33 and 1/2 inch arms and can use it to his advantage at times. Mitchell won’t look out of place at all along an NFL offensive line.
In college, Mitchell was able to demonstrate really good pass blocking ability. He can match the quickness on the edge that a lot of the top athletes have. His ability to stay in front and mirror pass rushers will serve him well at the next level.
He is a solid athlete and can play either tackle spot. Mitchell gets a good jump at the snap of the ball and has good quickness. After the snap, he shows good movement skills, whether that is getting to the second level on a run-blocking play or staying in front as a pass blocker.
Max Mitchell Weaknesses
Mitchell could add more strength to his frame and game. He doesn’t always show the strength to sustain blocks for a long amount of time. His frame looks like it can handle more muscle if he hits the weight room as a pro.
His run blocking could improve with the added strength. Mitchell needs to move people in the run game to open up bigger holes. Right now, he executes his assignment, but he can be more physical and really clear some running lanes.
He can sometimes scramble too much. When Mitchell starts losing a rep, he can overcorrect and panic, which doesn’t correct the problem. He needs to remain patient and trust his technique rather than panic and move too much.
Projected Draft Range:Â Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
