LeBron James has another accomplishment under his belt. James recently became 10th on the all-time assists list.
On Monday, James tallied 11 assists in a loss to Memphis Grizzlies. James had a triple-double with 24 points, 12 assists and 11 assists. Despite James’ triple-double, the Lakers lost 110-105 against the Grizzlies. James’ 11 assists gave him a total of 8,535 career assists. He passed former NBA guard Andre Miller, who had a total of 8,524 assists.

On top of becoming 10th on the list, James has two other accomplishments. He is the first player to rank in the top 10 of both all-time scoring and assists. He is also the only non-guard to make the top 10. The closest non-guard on the list is former Chicago Bulls forward Scottie Pippen. Ironically, Pippen is 33rd on the all-time assists list. Pippen has a total of 6135 career assists. So, there is a significant margin between James and Pippen on this list.
James needs over 400 assists to become ninth of the list. The ninth spot belongs to NBA Hall-of-Famer Gary Payton, who has a total of 8,966 assists. After Payton, James would have to surpass the only other active player on the list. The eighth spot belongs to his good friend Chris Paul. Paul has a total of 9,014 assists. The two friends are creating their own legacies as they climb the all-time assists list.
The Lakers are currently fighting to make the playoffs. They are 11th in the West with a record of 29-31. As the season dwindles down, James will try to lead the Lakers to the playoffs. It will be a challenge, but a player of James’ caliber is capable of doing it.
