Grading Players on the OKC Thunder, Isaiah Roby: B-
Roby averaged a cool 8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 dimes a game. He displayed his versatility by averaging 13.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and .9 blocks a game per 36 mins. He also went from playing sparingly last season to becoming regular rotational player. Roby started 34 of a possible 61 games. Despite showing some major improvements this year, he still had an up and down season. Some of his flaws included his passing IQ, three-point shooting, defense and his consistency. The Nebraska native also had a 114 DRtg with a -15 Plus-Minus Rating. Granted, he is a very young player and he’s expected to show flaws in his sophomore year.
Ty Jerome: A-
Jerome came over from Pheonix in a trade and boy did he take advantage. Jerome went from averaging 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists a game to 10.7, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game. He even upped his percentages to .446% from the field and a sexy 42% from far away. The marksman looked poised in his second year and getting some real playing time was just what he needed. Due to him having such a good season with the blue and orange, he was rested on multiple occasions. The reason was because he would give them a higher chance of winning (go figure). Hopefully next year he maintains a spot in the rotation because he looked to be a difference maker in his time on the court.
Kenrich Williams: B
Williams has shown before that he’s a capable defender and playmaker and he did just that this year. Same thing with the Thunder, he was their glue-guy bench presence. He even started at Point for a game against Sacramento (finished with 20 points, two rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks). Again, showing that he can be difference maker, he was eventually rested down the stretch. The Thunder probably aren’t going to retain him this coming offseason but it would make sense to. He’s on a team friendly $2m contract for the next two seasons. If he’s kept, he would more than likely be just a veteran bench presence. Teams will be looking for him to hit free agency next season as he has a nice skillset.
Svi Mykhailiuk: B-
Svi came over from Detroit in a swap for Hamidou Diallo. It was kind of a weird deal as Diallo looked very promising and he was a young gun, but things happen. Svi, like many other Thunder players, had career highs across the board. He put up 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game while shooting shooting a hair under 44%, a career high. Svi had a pretty decent run with the Thunder and showed off his versatile offensive skillset. No one knows what the Thunder are going to do in this years draft or what they’re going to do in free agency so we have to wait on what Svi’s future might hold.
Lu “The Dorture Chamber” Dort: A+
He improved his offense in humungous way this year and averaged 14 points, 2.2 threes a game. Not to mention his defense but everyone knows what he can do on that end. Much like Shai, there’s not much to say other than the fact that we might see an all star appearance from either of them in the near future. The only difference is that Dort should be able to make an all-defensive team with ease. A flaw that can be pointed out would have to be Dort’s shooting as he only shot .387% from the field. His Free Throw percentage also dropped from 79% to 74%. Not much else to say, his progress has been phenomenal and Presti should be praised for finding a gem in Dort. Not only him, but their scouting team as well. Dort’s role in the future is looking brighter and brighter by the day.
