Just a day after being traded to the Spurs by the Atlanta Hawks, Danilo Gallinari is on the move again. After the Spurs release Gallinari, he will reportedly sign with the Boston Celtics after he clears waivers. He is being signed on a two-year, $13 million contract by the Celtics.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Friday.
Once the San Antonio Spurs finalize the expected release on forward Danilo Gallinari, his preference is to join the Boston Celtics upon clearing waivers, sources tell ESPN.

Gallinari has had an interesting career that started in 2004 when he began playing professional basketball in his home country of Italy. He played for three teams in Italy before being drafted into the NBA in 2008 by the New York Knicks. After three seasons there, he bounced around the league before playing two seasons and change in Atlanta.
In 2021-2022, Gallinari played 66 games for the Hawks, starting 18. His averages per game were 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Gallinari played five playoff games in 2022, where he averaged an impressive 10.2 points per game.
