2021 was Pierce’s third season as the Hawks’ head coach. In his two previous seasons he coached Atlanta to 49 wins and 100 losses. His final record as head coach was 63-120. Pierce and the team missed the playoffs during his tenure and have not reached the postseason since 2016-2017.
Word from inside the organization is former Pacers head coach Nate McMillan will take over in the interim if he accepts the job.
