Boyd, 31, is a seven-year veteran who has a 4.96 ERA in his career. This season for the Tigers, he has a 3.89 ERA and 3-8 record.
The Mariners already added to their rotation with the acquisition of Luis Castillo and now Boyd will join him. They have a record of 55-49 and are in second place in the AL West, as they have been aggressive in the trade market.
Detroit tried to improve the roster this offseason, but with a record of 41-61 are now looking forward to the future.
