The Red Sox sweep the Braves in their recent series, winning the season series three to one after splitting with the Braves in May.
Game 1: Red Sox win 7-1
The Red Sox were able to start the two-game series with a bang, winning seven to one. This success is attributed to the whole team, as they only hit one home run from Masataka Yoshida.
The team was able to rally with two outs multiple times, as they hit two-out RBIs multiple times. These came from Triston Casas, Christian Arroyo, Yoshida twice, Jarren Duran, and Rafael Devers.
As for pitching, it was technically a reliever game, with John Schreiber starting after being injured for a while. He pitched one inning and gave up one run. Then, Nick Pivetta came in for five innings and got five strikeouts, and he and the relievers after him held the Braves scoreless.
Game 2: Red Sox win 5-3
This game was much more hard-fought than the first. With Cy Young runner-up and contender Spencer Strider pitching, the Red Sox were held scoreless while Ozzie Albies hit a solo home run and knocked in two to put the Braves up 3-0.
However, during the bottom of the seventh, Devers took Strider yard to put the Sox on the board. After this homer, the game’s momentum started to switch. In the seventh, Casas hit another homer, pushing Strider out of the game. As the relievers came in, the Sox’s hitting power increased. Adam Duvall hit another bomb in the eighth, along with Justin Turner hitting a two-RBI double.
This gave the Sox the lead, which they kept in order to win the game.
Since the Red Sox sweep of the Braves, they will go on to face the San Fransico Giants on July 28 to start their next west coast campaign.
