The 2023 MLB season is warming up as pitchers and catchers have officially reported, and spring training draws closer. In this series of articles, TGH is going to be giving an early look at every team’s projected pitching rotations ahead of Opening Day on March 30. Here is the 2023 pitching rotation for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Diamondbacks 2022 Season Review
Arizona finished with a record of 74-88, placing fourth in the NL West division last year, a full 20 games in front of the last place finisher. It was their fifth consecutive year missing the postseason. They bring back manager Torey Lovullo for his seventh season with the franchise.
2023 Projected Pitching Rotation
1. Zac Gallen
2022 stats: 12-4, 2.54 ERA, 184.0 IP, 52 ER
Gallen finished fifth in Cy Young voting last season, led the American league in WHIP and led the entire MLB in hits per nine innings.
2. Merill Kelly
2022 stats: 13-8, 3.37 ERA, 200.1 IP, 75 ER
Kelly started an MLB-leading 33 games last season, recording 21 decisions.
3. Madison Bumgarner
2022 stats: 7-15, 4.88 ERA, 158.2 IP, 86 ER
The four-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion had the second-worst ERA of his career in 2022, behind his 6.48 ERA in 2020.
4. Zach Davies
2022 stats: 2-5, 4.09 ERA, 134.1 IP, 61 ER
During Davies’ first year in Arizona, he only recorded seven decisions despite starting 27 games.
5. Ryne Nelson
2022 stats: 1-1, 1.47 ERA, 18.1 IP, 3 ER
Nelson may crack the starting lineup this season after starting three games during his 24-year-old rookie year.
