Back in 2019 Modern Horizons was released to the public and ultimately reshaped the Modern format. Cards like Hogaak, Arisen Acropolis and Arcum’s Astrolabe were instant format all-stars. In fact they were actually too good, and were banned from Modern all together. Plenty of other favorites like Urza, Lord High Artificer and Ice-Fang Coatl found homes in the format, thanks to Modern Horizons.
Since the introduction of the supplemental set, players were dying to know when they would see the sequel to one of the most popular sets in recent memory. On Thursday May 6, Magic: the Gathering players finally received their answer.

Modern Horizons 2 will be released June 18 to the general public. The official spoiler season begins May 24, where certain content creators will be highlighting their own preview card. Magic Online players gain access to the new set starting June 3, and prerelease starts June 11 going through June 17. The Modern Horizons 2 release date comes during a Weekly MTG stream on the official Magic Twitch channel.
The announcement of the set also welcomes the start of the “Wizard’s Summer of Legend”. The promotion focuses on new content for both Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons. Alongside the announcement of the Modern Horizons 2 release date were a handful of card reveals for MH2. Modern players are surely going to be excited to start playing with Counterspell and Sanctum Prelate. Best of all, enemy Fetchlands are here again to hopefully bring down their sky-high price tag.
Make sure to check out Modern Horizons 2 as it releases on June 18.
