The LCS 2024 season is about to begin. This offseason was a doozy for the league as three teams left in TSM, Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians. Only one of those spots were filled with Shopify Rebellion taking over TSM’s slot and the LCS was cut down to eight teams. Even after that rough offseason, many fans are still wondering when it will begin. Here is a look at the 2024 LCS Spring Start Date.
Full LCS Schedules for Each Team
2024 LCS Spring Start Date
The 2024 LCS Spring Start Date will be January 20, 2024, at 3 pm EST or 12 pm PST.
You read that correctly, the LCS is back on the weekends. The games will be on Saturday and Sunday afternoons once more with the hope of revitalizing viewership as 2023 was a rough year as well. Along with there only being eight teams, the LCS will only have six weeks of games.
This includes a two-week break between weeks four and five.
Along with this, there will obviously only be four games a day. They have continued with super-weeks as well in weeks three and six. Teams will play on Fridays during those special weeks.
Lastly, there will only be 14 games played for each team this split down from 18.
Thoughts on the LCS 2024 Schedule
Only playing 14 games is a really tough pill to swallow. While they are going to be increasing games in playoffs with double-elimination, the regular season being shrunk by over 20% is not great. We want more games for us to watch and for our players to use to get better, not less. Hopefully, they will consider adding more games to Summer Split, at least back to 18 would be nice.
The last major thought is that going back to weekends should only help the LCS. It will take some time for some people to learn about it and hopefully, this article will help with that. But once fans who used to watch on the weekends are back, it should propel the league forward and maybe even get more interest to fill it back out to 10 teams as well.
