In a surprising announcement, Bjergsen will be retiring from professional League of Legends. This does not mean that he will be stepping away from TSM though. Instead, he will be taking over as the Head Coach of the team.
After winning his sixth LCS championship and failing to make it out of groups at Worlds 2020, the LCS icon will no longer be playing in the mid lane. This comes as a surprise as last season he was a free agent and re-signed with TSM. In this deal, he also became part owner of TSM which led to many believing he would be playing for the team for years to come.
Now that the 24-year-old is becoming the head coach, it will be interesting to see how the team is shaped. Bjergsen has been the constant for TSM since 2013 and everyone has always felt like they would be building around him. The team feels like it could be ripped wide open and start fresh. The next and potentially biggest question of the offseason becomes, who will be taking over as the new TSM mid laner for 2021?
