One of the biggest surprises at The Game Awards was the announcement of The Witcher 4. While everyone knew the game was happening, there were only whispers that we might see it in 2024. Well, those whisper ended up screaming with the rest of us as The Witcher 4 was officially revealed. Here is a look at The Witcher 4 Release Date.

The Witcher 4 Release Date
The Witcher 4 Release Date is not yet known and it seems unlikely that it will be released in 2025.
There are rumors and theories that CD Projekt Red are further than we think they are on this. They had announced that a new Witcher game was in the works as early as March in 2022. Then apparently the real development for the game started in November of 2024. What this means is unknown but it would be shocking to see The Witcher 4 come out before 2026.
Our best guess is sometime during the Holiday season or early summer of 2026.
The Witcher 4 on Xbox Game Pass
As of right now, we would not bet on The Witcher 4 making its way to Xbox Game Pass.
The game is big enough on its own and should not need Game Pass to help it with its numbers. Along with this, it is rare to see major games release on Game Pass that are not made by Xbox or a subsidiary themselves. There is plenty of time before the release for this to change, but you should not anticipate seeing this game released on Xbox Game Pass.
The Witcher 4 Gameplay
We do not know much about The Witcher 4 and its gameplay just yet.
That being said, it would be surprising to see them go far off what we have already seen in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. You will still probably be in third-person using spells and fighting terrible monsters. The big difference that was revealed was that Ciri will be the protagonist instead of Geralt of Rivia this time. So there could be some changes that we do not expect.
