The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Dallas Cowboys.
DeMarcus Lawrence- 89
Over the last few seasons, Lawrence has been one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL. In 2018, Lawrence had 10.5 sacks, which was his second straight season with double-digit sacks. Madden rated him at an 89 for this season, but likely needed to add a few points to his rating.
Lawrence is rated the same as Brandon Graham of the Philadelphia Eagles. Graham had just four sacks last season, which means he should likely be rated a little lower, while Lawrence should be given a few extra points.
Adjusted Rating- 91
Sean Lee- 84
Lee has been a good player for the Cowboys for a long time, but has always battled injuries. More of the same happened last year, but Dallas had Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch step up as well. Lee was able to get 30 tackles in seven games, clearly making him the third-best linebacker on the team, but Madden gave him a rating of 84.
Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts led the league in tackles last year and was also given a rating of 84. Lee deserves a solid rating, but being rated the same as a young star like Leonard is a mistake.
Adjusted Rating- 80
Jason Witten- 83
The Cowboys will get Witten back out of retirement this season, as he spent one season in the Monday Night Football booth. In 2017, his last season, he had 63 receptions for 560 yards and five touchdowns. He’ll have to knock off the rust, but Madden certainly believes in his ability to do so, as they gave him an 83 rating.
David Njoku is a good, young tight end for the Cleveland Browns who received an 82 rating from Madden. He finished last season with 56 catches for 639 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Witten should not be rated above Njoku after sitting out last season, but rather should be rated a little bit lower than Njoku.
Adjusted Rating- 80
Connor Williams- 71
Williams was just a rookie in 2018, but was a part of a decent Dallas offensive line. He had to learn how to play guard after playing tackle in his college career. His blocking helped the Cowboys get to the playoffs and win a game while they were there.
Madden did not properly rate Williams for his play in 2018. He did struggle at times, but should be rated higher than a 71. He is tied for the 43rd rated guard in the game, behind players who have struggled like Alex Lewis and Josh Kline. His rating should be boosted a few points.
Adjusted Rating- 74
