New Orleans gets a solid backup and possible future replacement for Drew Brees in Bridgewater, who had a solid preseason with the Jets. This preseason has been his first extended game action for Bridgewater since his gruesome knee-injury before the 2016 season with the Vikings.
For the Jets, this narrows down a crowded quarterback room of Bridgewater, Sam Darnold and Josh McCown to just the latter two. This likely means Darnold will be their day one starter, with McCown mentoring him as much as possible from the bench.
New York got great value for Bridgewater, who they picked up this offseason. His contract only guaranteed a $500,000 signing bonus.
Bridgewater has 6,150 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and 22 interceptions in his career.
