Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 8. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Tyrone Tracy, RB, New York Giants
Even though Devin Singletary returned, Tyrone Tracy got a decent amount of the work in week 7. Tracy only carried the ball six times and had three receptions in the entire game. He totaled 23 rushing yards and nine receiving yards against the Eagles.
While Singletary did play, Tracy played more snaps. He earned more work when Singletary was out and looks like he will be the lead back moving forward. Tracy should at least be added and can be played when the matchup is favorable. He is rostered in just 47.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Jennings was out for week 7 against the Chiefs with a hip injury. Unfortunately, the 49ers had other wide receivers leave the game. Deebo Samuel left the game with an illness. After that Brandon Aiyuk injured his leg, leaving the 49ers limited.
The 49ers don’t expect Jennings to miss week 8, so he now figures to be a key part of the offense. Samuel will likely be the top wide receiver, but Jennings will be right behind him. He has produced when receivers have missed time in the past. Jennings is rostered in 45.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
In week 7, Doubs continued to play well and prove himself as a good outside target for Jordan Love to utilize. He had eight receptions for 94 yards on 10 targets against the Houston Texans. That gives him two straight good performances in a row.
After sitting out a week for complaining about his role, Doubs has seen increased production. While Jayden Reed is a good slot receiver, Doubs has been the best outside receiver for Jordan Love. He can be picked up and started based on the matchup. He is rostered in 37 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Alexander Mattison, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
Mattison has had some up-and-down weeks throughout the season, but he is the 21st-ranked running back in standard-scoring leagues. He has played well the last few weeks with Zamir White missing time. In week 7, Mattison had 23 carries for 92 yards. He added three catches for 31 yards as well.
White returned to practice in week 7, but wasn’t well enough to play. Mattison did well with his opportunity and should see more of the work even when White returns. He is currently rostered in 42.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
The Browns have had plenty of changes over the last few weeks. Amari Cooper was traded, which opened up an opportunity for Tillman in week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He hauled in eight passes for 81 yards on the day.
Cleveland brought Nick Chubb back last week, which could open up the offense more. The team also moved the ball better after Deshaun Watson left the game with an injury. That could give Tillman a way to continue his success. He is rostered in just 0.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
