The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2018 DXL Frisco Bowl.
Ohio Bobcats Prospects
Joe Lowery, OT
Lowery has started for the last two seasons at Ohio with time at both guard and tackle. He is a two-time captain and made the All-MAC second team in 2017 and the first team in 2018. Pro Football Focus named him the fifth best tackle in the country for his play in 2018.
At 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds, Lowery has great size for an offensive lineman in the NFL. While he might be a diamond in the rough, his stock should rise as the draft draws nearer.
Projected draft range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent
A.J. Ouellette, RB
Ouellette also made the All-MAC first team this season as he has led a great rushing offense. At Ohio, he has 690 carries for 3,665 yards and 32 touchdowns. This season has been his most productive with 1,142 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Ouellette is also a solid receiver with 62 receptions for 483 yards and six touchdowns in his time at Ohio.
He is well-built at 5-foot-10 and 209 pounds. Getting drafted may not happen, but Ouellette will get a chance to make an NFL roster.
Projected draft range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent
Papi White, WR
Another member of the All-MAC first team, White has been a great all-purpose player for the Bobcats. He has 157 receptions for 2,530 yards and 19 touchdown catches in his carer. White has also gotten involved in the running game at Ohio with 90 carries for 456 yards and six touchdowns. He has returned kicks, although not in the last few years, but it should still help his stock.
White is undersized at 5-foot-9 and 177 pounds, but could find a niche as a slot receiver and special teamer in the NFL.
Projected draft range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent
Joe Anderson, OG
The last member of Ohio’s offense on the All-MAC first team is Joe Anderson. He has started at guard for the Bobcats for the last two seasons, helping them have a great offense.
He is 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, which is great size for a guard. He’ll have to prove he has the necessary athleticism to play in the NFL.
Projected draft range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent
San Diego State Aztecs Prospects
Ryan Pope, OT
Pope is a second-team All-MWC performer that looks like he could have a shot at the pros. He has started the last two seasons and has experience at both tackle spots.
He has good size for a tackle in the NFL, standing 6-foot-7 and 315 pounds. His size will intrigue NFL teams and could get him drafted.
Projected draft range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent
Parker Baldwin, S
For three seasons, Baldwin has manned a safety spot for the Aztecs. He has 245 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions as an Aztec. This season he has 90 total tackles, four tackles for loss, one interception and six passes defended.
He is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, which helps him hit hard. Baldwin has good speed too as a former high school track state champion.
Projected draft range: Seventh round-undrafted free agent
Christian Chapman, QB
Chapman has been the starting quarterback for three seasons. He has thrown for 5,077 yards, 39 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 59.9% completion. In just six games this season (due to injury), Chapman was able to throw for 774 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception on 57.5% completion.
At 6-foot and 200 pounds, he is undersized for the position.
Projected draft range: undrafted free agent
