Pruitt was fired after an investigation into the Tennessee program was conducted and recruiting violations were found. A total of 11 coaches and staff members have been fired because of the investigation.
In three seasons at Tennessee, Pruitt posted a 16-19 record. He went 5-7 in his first season and followed that up with an eight-win season in 2019. For the 2020 season, Tennessee won just three games. He won his only bowl game, which was the Gator Bowl following the 2019 season.
Tennessee will need to find the team’s fifth head coach since current AD Phil Fulmer last roamed the sidelines for the team in 2008.
