Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer has informed his team he is taking the Alabama job according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
DeBoer has been a collegiate head coach for four seasons. He spent two seasons at Fresno State and two at Washington with a career 37-9 record. At Fresno State, he was 12-6 over two seasons, which included a nine-win season in 2021. In his two seasons at Washington, he posted a 25-3 record, posting a fast turnaround. The highlight of his time at Washington was making the National Championship Game this season.
He notably hasn’t spent time in the SEC, but has spent time across the country. DeBoer has had stops in Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois and Sioux Falls.
At Alabama, DeBoer will be taking over for legendary head coach Nick Saban. A few players have entered the transfer portal as a result of the change, including star receiver Isaiah Bond.
