1. Chet Holmgren Gonzaga
Holmgren is going to be one of the best players in college basketball with his unique skill set. As well as, creating the best frontcourt in college basketball in combination with Drew Timme. Additionally, his impact defensively will be massive with his rim protection ability and the length he has matched with athleticism. Next, he will be able to add versatility offensively with his ability to handle the basketball like a guard and score the basketball. Continued, he will turn into a problem for defenses with his overall skill and size. Furthermore, the offense will be centered around Timme and allow Holmgren to be the second option which is extremely dangerous for opposing teams to handle. Chet Holmgren will be one of the best watches in college basketball and will be in pursuit of helping Gonzaga win a National Championship.
2. Hunter Dickinson Michigan
Dickinson had a tremendous freshman season with his ability to dominate the interior on the offensive and defensive end. Furthermore, Dickinson does a very good job of consistently getting good post positioning giving multiple efforts to be in a position to score. Next, he is really effective in handoff and ball screen action slipping or diving to the basket with the ability to finish easily around the rim. Continued, he does a really good job of facing up in the post with great footwork to attack and finish effectively. Also, his touch around the basket is exceptional with his left hand with the ability to post on either block. The growth of utilizing his right hand and being that much more difficult to defend would improve his offensive capabilities. Additionally, the consistent effort Dickson brings pays off offensively and contributes to his production on the boards. As for defensively, Dickinson does a very good job in ball screen defense and being able to switch out on the perimeter when necessary doing a very good job. Next, his post defense is really good as well being able to contain the best bigs in the country with his physicality and shot-blocking ability. Hunter Dickinson will be one of the best players in college basketball looking to lead Michigan to another Big Ten title.
3. Kofi Cockburn
Cockburn was a dominant force this past season with his imposing physicality in the post making him a matchup problem. As well as, just entering the transfer portal he could be a major late addition to a program. Next, his ability to establish post positioning is great, especially in high low situations. Additionally, the efficiency around the basket is great at 65.4% from the field being a dependable threat. Also, he plays with a good motor and makes a major impact on the boards on both ends of the floors. Continued, he is solid in ball screen with being able to finish well on dives or lobs to the basket. Furthermore, he can draw a lot of contacts, therefore he must shoot a higher percentage than 55.3%. The ability to go to his drop step or jump hook is really difficult to stop when he gets two feet in the paint. Also, being able to pass effectively out of double teams would go a long way to Illinois overall production offensively. Now defensively, he brings physicality in the post and does a good job altering shots. The growth for him defensively would be his mobility being able to get out on the perimeter way more than he currently does. Kofi Cockburn is testing NBA draft waters if he returns he will be one of the best players in college basketball for some program.
4. Trevion Williams Purdue
Williams had a very good Junior season for Purdue and is one of the best bigs in the country. First off, Williams has the ability to establish really good post positioning with having good hands for post entries. Furthermore, he has good touch around the basket going with jump hooks and drops steps with having good footwork. Next, he must improve his ability to pass out of the post when double teams come to take advantage of defensive positioning. Continued, he has really good strength and when he establishes two feet in the paint his efficiency around the basket is very good. Also, he is a dominant force on the boards, contributing toward easy 2nd chance opportunities. Additionally, the motor Williams plays with is consistent and the ability to continue to get in better shape has gone with his improvement. Now defensively, he needs to improve his post defense with disrupting post-up opportunities. Along with, continuing to improve his overall mobility defensively in the paint and ball screens. Trevion Williams will be one of the best bigs in the country and looking to lead Purdue towards a Big Ten Title and a Final Four.
5. David McCormack Kansas
McCormack had a very solid Junior season for Kansas being one of the best bigs in the country. Now, McCormack gets very solid post positioning being able to get high percentage shots, and uses his physicality very well against defenders. Furthermore, Kansas sets up McCormack very well with post pins giving him the automatic position to take advantage of defensive rotations. Continued, McCormack is solid in ball screen situations diving to the rim as a viable option. Next, he is really good in transition with duck in opportunities getting him in great scoring areas. Additionally, his touch around the basket could improve as there is inconsistency with him shooting 51.5% from the field. Also, he does a good job of reposting giving multiple efforts for positioning. As well as, being a factor on the offensive glass with his rebounding ability. As for defensively, he is very solid around the basket with protecting the rim and his post defense. He could improve his mobility out the perimeter in ball screen situations. David McCormack will be one of the best bigs in the country next season for Kansas looking to win the Big 12.
6. Christian Bishop Texas
Bishop will be one of the best bigs in the country because of the growth in his game and the versatility he will provide offensively. Bishop is a matchup problem with his ability to attack slower bigs with his finishing and ball-handling ability. Next, the activity of Bishop is very good with his ability to finish on rolls, lops, and in transition is elite. Continued, the efficiency of Bishop’s game is great at 68.1% from the field. Additionally, he is a good rebounder who can contribute to second-chance opportunities. The growth in Bishop’s game would be to improve his jumper from the mid-range and direct post-ups. However, the mobility without the ball is elite and his finishing around the basket is great. The overall skill Bishop has from his position poses major problems for opposing teams. As for defensively, his size can be an issue against the best post players in the country. However, his activity defensively with altering shots and ball screen defense is very good. The movement Bishop plays with makes him a major addition to Texas.
7. Keve Aluma Virginia Tech
Aluma had a terrific Junior season for Virginia Tech leading the way as their interior presence with his scoring and rebounding ability. Furthermore, Aluma is really good at giving second effort opportunities on the offensive glass. Next, an area he could improve is his strength around the basket to finish through contact more consistently. Additionally, he is really active around the basket opening up on cuts and short-area jumpers are a strength of his. Continued, he has good touch around the basket going to his right hand with jump hooks. The mobility of Aluma is really useful in ball screens, cuts, and face-up opportunities with the skill to score the basketball. Aluma is a major factor in Virginia Tech with setting the tone with his ability to remain active and score effectively in multiple ways. As for the defensive end, he brings good effort, however, he needs to improve his positioning to guard out on the perimeter. As well as, improving his strength around the basket to defend the lane more effectively. Keve Aluma will be one of the best players in the ACC next season for Virginia Tech.
8. Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua Baylor
Tchamwa Tchatchoua made a significant impact on the success of Baylor with his ability to come off the bench and play with great energy. Next, he is really efficient around the basket with his ability to finish at the basket with athleticism and touch. Furthermore, he is dynamic in ball screen action with the ability to hit the rim on direct dives or lobs at the rim. Continued, the ability to play above the rim makes it very difficult for defenses to rotate without a misstep otherwise he will finish. Also, the rebounding ability is really good with the athleticism and effort on the glass on both ends. The offensive improvement would come with potentially being better with the basketball in the post or mid-post. As for defensively, his length and athleticism on this end are impressive and it showed against Drew Timme in the National Championship. Furthermore, the consistent effort to guard out on the perimeter and in the post is really impressive. Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua will have an increased role for Baylor looking to have the same sort of impact on their success.
9. Kyle Young Ohio State
Young is everything you would want from a player bringing consistent effort and toughness on each possession being a winning player. To start Young has improved with his skill with the basketball being able to attack off the dribble against bigs and using his physicality well. Also, he brings great mobility in screening effectively and as a cutter. Additionally, he has improved his shooting ability being able to make shots from the perimeter at 43.3% from three. Continued, his activity is great and contributes heavily towards 2nd chance opportunities with his effort. The versatility of Young brings the capability of making plays on the perimeter and in the post. The intangibles of Young are terrific, however, the improved skill has allowed him to elevate his game. As for the defensive end, he brings great effort to this end and impacts the paint. Also, he could continue to improve his positioning at times to be an improved defender. Kyle Young is the heartbeat of Ohio State and will have a larger role this season.
10. John Fulkerson Tennessee
Fulkerson is one of the best forwards in the SEC and will be looking to lead Tennessee back to the top of the SEC. Next, he brings really good efficiency from the field being able to attack very well off of the bounce. Additionally, his mobility is really good especially in ball screens as a roller with his skill around the basket is good. Also, he runs the floor hard in transition being available as a rim runner for easy scoring opportunities. Furthermore, he faces up well in the post with his ability to attack bigs effectively and efficiently. Now, he needs to continue his pure post-scoring against physicality and being able to finish around the basket with consistency. The mobility and activity is the best trait of Fulkerson and gives Tennessee an ability to play with space offensively. As for the defensive end, he plays with good activity and can be guard out on the perimeter when necessary. Also, he can guard in ball screens at a high level and defend in the post as well. John Fulkerson will be one of the best players in the SEC entering next season.
