Since joining the league under the LA Thieves brand in last year’s Cold War season, it has been an up-and-down ride. With an atrocious season last year, the Thieves were looking to build a competitive roster heading into Vanguard. They did exactly that by revamping their roster with young talent in the likes of Dylan “Envoy” Hannon and Sam “Octane” Larew to pair with their already signed players in Kenny “Kenny” Williams and Zack “Drazah” Jordan.
This year the LA Thieves looked to have found the winning roster that would be consistently competing for championships.
However, things have turned out…different than expectations.

Another Underwhelming Season
During Major One qualifiers, the LA Thieves were able to back up their preseason hype with a T-3 finish.
However, things unraveled quickly.
They secured a spot in the winner’s bracket but LA failed to capitalize on their opportunity, falling to losers after one match. Then they were eventually bounced from the tournament the Atlanta FaZe. Placing in a disappointing T-6 spot.
Worst Stage of The Year
Heading into Major Two, the LA Thieves were still considered a top team in the league despite their placing at the last event. That opinion would quickly change after the Major Two qualifying stage. Unable to win one series, the LA Thieves were embarrassed all stage, going 0-5 and finishing dead last. Yes, even the Paris Legion were able to scrape together one win and finish ahead of LA.
Things didn’t go better at the event either, again massively underperforming to their standards, they again were bounced early, placing T-8.
Continued Struggles
Ever since then, the LA Thieves haven’t been back in championship contention. It was thought their T-2 finish at the Pro-Am Classic would spark some momentum heading into Major 3. It unfortuantely did not. Placing a disappointing T-8 in the Major Three qualifiers stage a T-4 finish at the event seemed to have saved their whole Major.
What Next? Champs?
On paper this team can compete with anyone, the talent they have can match up with the likes of FaZe and OpTic. It’s just putting it all together in all three game modes and playing well for a consistent amount of time.
Their spot for Champs is on the line so they are going to need to finish this Major 4 out strong to secure their spot for the event.
