Back in May, the New York Subliners looked like a longshot to qualify for COD Champs. After being considered a top team in the preseason, the Subliners went on a downward spiral dealing with drama and team changes, forcing them to fall all the way to the 11th seed in the CDL standings.
Everybody counted them out of Champs contention, everybody said they couldn’t do it.
But the New York Subliners proved the doubters wrong and ran the table.

Coming off a Disappointing Major 3
Coming off of Major 3, it looked like the New York Subliners season was over. Their poor performance at Major 3 left a bad taste in the mouths of the COD community. So expectations for their Major 4 run were low and even lower expectations to make Champs.
Even the Subliners had doubts about the future of their season.
GG’s London. Gonna go play hopscotch in the freeway now.

Achieving The Impossible
Heading into the Major 4 tournament the Subliners were looking red hot, sitting atop the qualifiers stage standings alongside the London Royal Ravens. Finishing with an impressive record of 4-1, including wins over former champions OpTic Texas and the Seattle Surge.
Although NYSL looked good in the qualifiers stage, that was only step one. The next step was to make it to the Grand Finals.
But nothing could stop the Subliners from accomplishing their goal this weekend.
With a spot in the winner’s bracket, NYSL drew a struggling Minnesota Rokkr in the first round. After being down 2-0, the Subliners persevered and were able to pull off the reverse sweep to advance to the second round.
The second round was much easier, NYSL dominated the Florida Mutineers with a quick 3-0 sweep.
But Crimsix and the Subliners weren’t happy with just that. Forget just making the finals, they wanted to win the whole damn thing.
After taking down the LA Thieves in the winners finals with relative ease, the New York Subliners were in the Grand Finals. And with that victory, NYSL achieved something nobody thought they could, including myself, a chance to play at COD Champs.

Holding Their Heads High
Although NYSL didn’t win the event, eventually falling to the LA Thieves, they achieved what everyone thought was the impossible. The way they were able to crawl back from the bottom of the standings after all the controversy and drama throughout the season is something to marvel at.
GGs LAT fell short at our major hurts a lot to not bring home the chip for the New York fans out there. Head forward though we secured the first goal now to champs. Thank you so much for all the support you guys are amazing love you all #NYSL
