The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions for a third-round pick according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Tate released this via his twitter account:
It’s been real DETROIT! I’ll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!!
— Golden Tate (@ShowtimeTate) October 30, 2018
Philadelphia wanted to get a solid receiver to play with Alshon Jeffery because of the injury to Mike Wallace.
Tate has been on the Lions since 2014 after starting his career with the Seahawks. He has 581 catches, 6,936 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns in his career. This season Tate has hauled in 44 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns.
The 30-year-old only has the rest of this season on his contract and is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
The Eagles are 4-4 and seem to be making a playoff push with the acquisition of Tate.
Detroit acquired Damon Harrison earlier this season via a trade, but with offloading Tate, they lose one of their best skill-position players.
