NFL Week Two Final DFS Player Pool:
Last Updated: 09/16 12:59 PM EST
I have preemptively decided to fade T.J. Yeldon if Leonard Fournette will not play, sticking with Coleman.
Quarterbacks:
Jimmy Garoppolo and Case Keenum
I was toying with Drew Brees this week over Garoppolo in cash games, but I decided to pay down. Garoppolo is gaining steam as a popular play, which I’m totally fine with. The deciding factor was that there are four to six top-end wide receivers in a great matchup. A Drew Brees lineup with my running back pool was not possible considering the exposure I wanted to have to two top-end wide receiver options. Case Keenum is going to be chalk at $6,700 and in a great spot versus the Raiders. Garoppolo will also be my quarterback in my single entry contests between 100 and 1,176 people.
Running Backs:
Alvin Kamara, James Conner, Tevin Coleman, Alfred Morris, and James White
If week one taught us anything, it’s to eat the chalk when it comes to value running backs. This week, Tevin Coleman will be in every lineup I make and allows me to fit in studs like Kamara and Brown. Alfred Morris is going overlooked thanks to Tevin Coleman. With the 49ers being six-point favorites, it’s likely they will control the flow of the game. This team showed they are not afraid to pound the rock in a tough matchup against the Vikings. So, they will absolutely run the ball against a Detroit defense that looked terrible on Monday Night Football. But, here are the stats that put Morris over the top for me as a viable running back option.
Alfred Morris received five carries inside the 20-yard line, which was second among NFL running backs in week one. He also received five carries inside the 10 and four carries inside the five-yard-line, which was first in both categories among NFL running backs. If there are red zone carries to be had, Morris will get them. I also think James White will go overlooked given Coleman’s popularity at the same price. White is a matchup nightmare and cannot be covered one-on-one. The Patriots might have success moving the ball early. However, they will have to win one-on-one matchups in the second half against this tenacious Jaguars defense, and I believe that White will be the beneficiary. There’s also a chance he’s the only healthy running back given the questionable status of Burkhead and Michel.
Wide Receivers:
Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Emmanuel Sanders, and Dante Pettis
My top three wide receivers need no analysis. Antonio Brown is facing what will widely become known as the worst secondary in football. Julio Jones, after getting targeted 19 freaking times, will face a rookie corner on Sunday. Not to mention, Jones has had incredible success against zone defenses and the Carolina Panthers specifically. Emmanuel Sanders is still underpriced compared to a $7,000 Demaryius Thomas and is Keenum’s favorite target.
Last week I decided to fade the chalk when it comes to the minimum priced Keelan Cole. This week…I’ll somewhat be eating the chalk when it comes to the minimum priced Dante Pettis. For one, Pettis’ quarterback is far superior to Cole. And, Pettis’ quarterback will have a higher volume of attempts than Cole’s did last week. I’m high on the 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo this week, so it makes sense that Pettis will be on one of my two cash game lineups. And Pettis, along with Tevin Coleman, allow me to have a lineup with Kamara, Brown, and Jones.
Tight Ends:
Jordan Reed and George Kittle
I found myself being overexposed to the 49ers, so I decided to pay up for Jordan Reed. We need to use Reed while he’s healthy, and, he emerged as Smith’s most dependable pass-catcher. It also helps that no Washington wide receivers have asserted themselves. With guys like Pettis and Coleman in play, you can find the extra cash to fit Jordan Reed in.
George Kittle will likely be the most popular tight end, and I think that’s warranted. Goodwin’s injury is good for all the 49ers pass-catchers. And Kittle, despite a tough matchup in week one, had a good day. It would have been bigger if he hauled in that potential overthrow by Garoppolo.
Defense/Special Teams:
Los Angeles Chargers
It’s pretty straightforward. The Chargers will look to bounce back against an inferior opponent and will be the most popular defense, unless Aaron Rodgers is ruled out ahead of Sunday’s game.
I am considering pivoting from the Chargers to the Vikings defense on my third lineup to differentiate in larger contests since both defenses are the same price.
NFL Week Two Final DFS Lineups:
Last Updated: 09/16 12:59 PM EST
The top two lineups are my two 50/50 lineups and represented equally of their 50 entries. My third lineup is for my single entry cash games between 100 and 1,176 people. The only change I see myself making is pivoting from the Chargers to the Vikings in the event that Aaron Rodgers misses the game.
