One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 7. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
1. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have the 29th-ranked fantasy defense at 2.7 points per game. They have one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Chiefs in week 2. Cincinnati has registered two negative-scoring games, which were against the Ravens and the Commanders.
In week 7, the Cincinnati Bengals play their in-state rival, the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are averaging just 15.8 points per game this season, which ranks near the bottom of the league. They scored 16 last week against the Eagles, but their lone touchdown came on special teams. Cincinnati hasn’t had the best defense this season, but showed signs of improvement in week 6, only allowing seven points. They are rostered in 21.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo has the 13th-ranked fantasy defense this season, at 7.2 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring outings, which were against the Jaguars and Dolphins. On the flip side, the Bills have one negative-scoring game, which was against the Ravens in week 4.
The Bills are playing on Monday Night Football in week 6, but will play the Titans in week 7. The Titans are scoring 19.2 points per game, but are struggling with turnovers this season. Starting quarterback Will Levis has thrown seven interceptions this season. The Bills have five of their own through five games and can capitalize. They are rostered in 36.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Miami Dolphins
Miami ranks 21st as a fantasy defense, as they score 5.4 points per game. They have no double-digit scoring games, but also have no negative-scoring games this season. Their offense’s inability to routinely move the ball has put them in rough spots, but the defense has played well.
The week 7 matchup for the Dolphins is with the Indianapolis Colts. Miami will be coming off a bye for this game. The Colts are middle of the pack in scoring at 23.6 points per game. The Dolphins will be fresh though and they could force some turnovers. Whether Joe Flacco or Anthony Richardson starts at quarterback, there will be opportunities for the Dolphins defense to make big plays. They are rostered in 32.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams rank 30th as a fantasy defense, scoring 2.6 points per game. They one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Packers in week 5. Los Angeles has one negative-scoring game, which occurred against the Cardinals in week 2.
In week 7, the Rams play the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have made a switch to Aiden O’Connell at quarterback, but they haven’t seen the results yet. They average 18.2 points per game this season. While the Rams haven’t played the best this year, they could have one of their best games of the season coming off a bye.
5. New Orleans Saints
New Orleans has the 15th-ranked fantasy defense at 5.5 points per game. They have one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Panthers in week 1. The Saints have one negative-scoring game, which was against the Chiefs in week 5.
In week 7, the Saints play the Denver Broncos. The Broncos score 18.7 points per game, which ranks 18th in the league. Starting quarterback Bo Nix has five interceptions and the team has fumbled five times this season. New Orleans could play well on a short week, as this game is on Thursday. The Saints are rostered in 48.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
