After struggling mightily on offense all season long, the Steelers have made their first in-season coaching move since 1941. Matt Canada, who was the architect of the flailing offense, has been fired. Running backs coach Eddie Faulkner will take over OC duties.
Mike Tomlin, the Steelers head coach, released a statement via the Steelers’ official Twitter account.
Despite having a winning record, through 10 weeks, the Steelers have been outgained in every single game. They are in the bottom five in yards per game, sitting at 280. They’re second-to-last in passing yards per game at 170.
Undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito, who was thrust into action after multiple Giants quarterback injuries, already has more games with multiple touchdown passes than Kenny Pickett does, despite Pickett’s first round status. He’s thrown for six scores and four picks, while sitting at 1,722 passing yards.
