The NBA 2k series has long been one of the better sports series. Lately, it has started to trend more in the Madden way, less content and less graphical updates, it still is a generally solid basketball experience. The hope will be that the latest version of the game will address most of the player’s concerns. Players will want to know who the cover athlete will end up being. Here are the Top 5 Player Options for the NBA 2k24 Cover.

5. Anthony Edwards
There is a reason this is number five, it is the least likely. That being said, Edwards is young but experienced. He is a scoring machine finishing second only to Devin Booker with 31.6 points per game. Also, do not forget that he is a solid defensive player as well. Statmuse has him ranked as the 24th-best defensive player in the NBA from last season. He will be only 22 heading into his fourth year and has the potential to be one of the best players in the league next year. It wouldn’t be too out of left field for the NBA 2k folks to grab him as their next cover star.
4. Victor Wembanyama
There is no doubt that superstardom is a probability for the first overall draft pick in this past year’s NBA Draft. He is instantly one of the tallest players in the league but his ball skills and general basketball IQ are beyond his years. Pair that with Greg Popovich and Wembanyama has a lot going right for him. It wouldn’t be the first time a rookie was put on the cover. Truthfully, if there weren’t some great options on this list, he would be near or at the top.
3. Jayson Tatum
No matter how anyone looks at it, Jayson Tatum is one of the brightest stars in the NBA. He is not only one of the most talented but he also plays on a team with high expectations and plenty of spotlights shown on it. He is still only 25 and truly has been coming into his own. Last season was arguably his best and it feels like a superstar player like Tatum deserves to be on the cover of 2k at least once. There is no doubt that he is being considered but the two ahead of him are the most likely options.
2. Nikola Jokic
This is cheating a bit but how can Jokic not get it along with the guy at the top? He has been one of the top five players in the NBA for years now. He won back-to-back MVP trophies and didn’t get the cover. Maybe now that he won the Finals, was the Finals MVP, finished second in the MVP race and averaged a triple-double, he will get his cover. It is time and he can gladly split it with Kobe.
1. Kobe Bryant
There is not much else to say other than this was his number. Yes, Kobe has been on the front of NBA 2k games in the past but this may genuinely be one of his last chances unless they decide to give him another randomly or in 2028 because it has an eight in it. He is an all-time great and it would be a great way to honor his memory as he passed away much too soon. They need to make it like they did last season. Have the regular version be a current player, Jokic in this instance and then give Kobe Bryant the special edition. Not much else to add to this other than, make it happen 2k.
