The Indianapolis Colts have signed placekicker Michael Badgley. Their current kicker, Rodrigo Blankenship, is dealing with a hip injury that may preclude him from being available on Sunday.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
The #Colts are signing kicker Michael Badgley after today’s workout, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. So if Hot Rod can’t go, it’ll be Badgley getting promoted from the practice squad to kick on Sunday against the #Texans.

Badgley, nicknamed “the Money Badger,” kicked for the Chargers from 2018 to 2020. He was released August of 2021 after losing the starting job to third year player Tristan Vizcaino. In 2021, the Titans employed Badgley for one game, in which he attempted and missed one field goal. He also made one and missed one extra point.
WIth Blankenship’s status in question, Colts fans will see if Badgley even needs to be promoted off of the practice squad. It may be uneccessary, or for a very short period of time.
